Pokeman Cards

There are many cards out there to collect. Thousands already exist, and sets of over a hundred cards come out every few months. But, the new Pokemon cards just came out, called Pokemon BREAKthrough. The set has new cards which are called “break cards.” You can put a break card on another card of the same species and use the attacks of either card. This is what got me into the Pokemon trading card game again. Most of my cards I got in fourth grade from friends, handed down from their big siblings. That is why many of my cards are from 1995-2000, even though I wasn’t born yet. These have been sitting in my closet for years, even four First Edition valuable cards that I didn’t realize I had. The new art style and the introduction of “full art” cards is appealing to me, and I hope to get some for Christmas. ~ Jolly Jake, Grade 9

Ugg Bailey Bow Boots

Kids have been wearing Ugg boots for years because they are warm and comfortable. Now Ugg has come out with a pretty version of the wooly winter waders. They are called Bailey Bow Boots and they have pretty satin bows tied in the back side of the boot. They come in a variety of colors including the classic chestnut, black and grey. But they also come in bright colors such as purple and red. You might have to forgo some other Christmas presents to get these, because these girly boots will set you back more than $150.00 ~ Christmas Clare, Grade 6

Barbie Jeep

My absolute favorite gift was when I was five and got a Barbie Jeep. I remember riding around with all my toy horses in the front seat, tooling around the yard for hours. It was awesome! ~ Amazing Anne, grade 11

Lego Castle

I was about 8 or 9 and got a Lego Castle. I played with that for years. The battles were epic. And each time I got a new lego set, a new battle could be fought. I mean, who doesn’t want catapults, drawbridges, secret escapes, and movable towers. ~ Isaac, grade 8

Erector Set

I was in 5th grade and I got an Erector Set for Christmas. I wasn’t that excited when I opened it, but later grandpa opened the set with me and helped me build the models. It was fascinating and memorable. It came out again and again and became something we could do together. I don’t think I would have liked to have played it by myself, but it was an amazing way for me to connect to my grandpa! ~ Jessamyn, all grown up!
